31 days of October; 4 Halloween Traditions

Hello Fellow Readers!

Do you have traditions in your home or life that you find yourself doing every year around the holidays? I do. It's something that I just recently noticed and decided to share with all of you. Let me know if you do the same thing or if you have any traditions of your own.

1. Read Edgar Allan Poe

There's just something about Edgar Allan Poe that makes me want to read it every October. Sometimes it's his complete writings, sometimes I just pick and choose the stories or poems. Either way I always read something of his. His type of Macabre just sort of gets me in the mood for October and Halloween. Even if I have read his stories and poems a million times I still love it and will continue to love them.

2. Listen to my October songs

Yes, I have special music I listen to during October to get me in the mood. Some of it is classical, some contemporary and of course I have the classics like 'Monster Mash' and 'Bad Moon Rising'. It's just something else to get me in the swing of things. I am not the type to listen to scary sounds just doors creeping open or women screaming, but I need some sort of music to fill my house when I am home.

3. Watch Hocus Pocus

This is one of the traditions that took me by surprise. I just figured out that I watch this movie every Octobert and I realized that it does not feel like October/Halloween unless I see this movie at least once. It's just one of those must do things, ya know? I can't help it, if it's on it must be watched no if, ands, or buts. Yes, I do watch scary horror movies during this time as well but those rotate around and it is never been the same movie every year. This is the only movie that has been the most constant.

4. Buy a Pumpkin

This is something that I only recently started doing. It's also a little weird because I don't actually do anything with said pumpkin. I don't carve it, I don't paint on it. I just like to have it around. Maybe use it in some pictures? I have no idea but I need this random pumpkin around my house and it needs to be in october and it has to be orange. It's weird right? No? Okay good.
