Title: Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (and Other Concerns)
Author: Mindy Kaling
Genre: Humor; Non-Fiction; Essays
Published: November 1st, 2011
Diving straight into the book as soon as I received it, I expected just nonstop witty, creative, and funny writing that I could breeze through. I was disappointed, however, despite the fact that it was a pretty easy read, this took me three weeks to finish.
It's not like Mindy wasn't funny, witty or creative it was just that I got so bored and tired of it. Halfway through the book, I found myself stopping to count how many pages I had left. I did relate to a lot of what she wrote and agreed with her opinions, I started to think that was the problem.
Don't get me wrong, I love Mindy's writing on The Office and the Mindy Project and she is a great actress. I know that if I ever met her (my awkwardness aside) we would get along so well! (but don't we always think that?) but having to read it instead of listening to it really didn't sit well with me. I think I should have picked up the audiobook instead (I can't believe I am saying this!)
Overall this is for anyone that wants a quick read for the beach, or who enjoys reading manuscripts.

Mindy Kaling has lived many lives: the obedient child of immigrant professionals, a timid chubster afraid of her own bike, a Ben Affleck–impersonating Off-Broadway performer and playwright, and, finally, a comedy writer and actress prone to starting fights with her friends and coworkers with the sentence “Can I just say one last thing about this, and then I swear I’ll shut up about it?”
Perhaps you want to know what Mindy thinks makes a great best friend (someone who will fill your prescription in the middle of the night), or what makes a great guy (one who is aware of all elderly people in any room at any time and acts accordingly), or what is the perfect amount of fame (so famous you can never get convicted of murder in a court of law), or how to maintain a trim figure (you will not find that information in these pages). If so, you’ve come to the right book, mostly!
